Berserker Street State School is a primary school with a growing reputation for excellence and innovation. Beautiful turn of the century buildings are coupled with modern resources, a full-sized sports stadium and a cutting edge library. At Berserker Street State School every classroom features interactive whiteboards, computers and full connectivity to the World Wide Web. Our school has also recently purchased a significant number of XO laptops. Every child from Prep to Year 6 now has their very own laptop computer.  This is an exciting development for our students which will be transformational in terms of learning outcomes. To find out more about these wonderful devices please visit One Education.

As the first National Partnership School in the Region, Berserker Street State School has had access to an additional $1.2 million funding, providing unparalleled levels of staffing and resources. The quality of our academic program was verified during our last Teaching and Learning Audit where we were awarded multiple ratings in the Outstanding category.

Berserker Street State School has continued to strive towards continued excellence in education with a strong commitment to an explicit improvement agenda. A number of key initiatives are being rigorously implemented to improve student outcomes in literacy, numeracy and science. In line with state-wide improvement priorities, reading comprehension and number are two of the key focus areas. The services of two expert consultants have been engaged in these areas to assist in the development of evidence-based practice to improve the learning outcomes of students at Berserker Street State School. Focussed training has been provided to staff, both in and out of the classroom, by Associate Professor John Munro to drive the continued improvement of teacher pedagogical practice in the teaching of reading. Ann Baker, author and South Australia’s Mathematician-in-Residence, has been working in-classrooms with teachers at Berserker Street State School, and providing professional development for staff, for a number of years to embed the natural maths approach to teaching and learning in classrooms to improve student outcomes and performance in numeracy.
