Our classroom sports program provides a range of opportunities, overseen by our Physical Education (PE) teacher Mr Thornton. These include:
'Infants Gross Motor' program, movement skills and gymnastics, fitness development and testing, games skills and modified games, athletics (track and field), dancing (folk, bush, line and old time).
At Berserker Street State School we offer a large range of opportunities to our students to participate in both intra-school (inter-sports house) and inter-school sporting competitions and fixtures. Our school participates in the following structured sporting activities:
Inter-house athletics (track and field) carnival.
Walk-a-thon.
Inter school cricket.
Inter school teeball and softball.
Inter school Rugby League.
Inter school soccer (mixed, boys, girls).
Inter school netball.
Inter school tennis
Inter school basketball.
Regional Shield competition – Netball and Rugby League .
Interschool cross country.
Interschool athletics carnival.
Trials for Rockhampton, Regional, and State representative teams.
We also host a range of successful programs to increase students' skills and give them opportunities to excel in sport. These include:
Free Active afterschool sports two afternoons a week (includes afternoon tea and coaching/sports participation.
Programs run by visiting sports development officers.
After school, and lunch-time training for students in inter school teams.
