Berserker Street State School has a strictly enforced enrolment management plan to ensure growth on the campus is sustainable and managed within the current built capacity. New enrolments are asked to check the enrolment management plan and consult the catchment map for further information before approaching the school for enrolment. Ed Map is a useful interactive street map that allows you to put your address into a search function to tell you which school catchment area your residential address falls into.

Proof of residence in catchment needs to be sighted upon enrolment. Applications will not be processed however be placed on the waiting list until this proof is provided. We are required to sight at least one primary form and one secondary form of proof of residency. A primary form consists of a current lease agreement, unconditional contract of sale or deed of residence, complete with the enrolling parent's name and in-catchment address. A secondary source of proof can consist of a power bill, rates notice or similar, again complete with the enrolling parent's name and in-catchment address shown.

Further clarification will be sought if there is any doubt about residential status. The Principal may request further sources of proof of residency including:

  • Additional utility bills (e.g. water bill) or a series of bills at the same address over a sequential period to demonstrate continued/ongoing residency
  • Electoral Roll verification letter
  • Mobile phone bill (with current address details)
  • Driver's License (with current address details)
  • Bank statement (with current address details; financial details are not required)
  • Tax Assessment Notice (financial details are not required)

Documents demonstrating recent change of address / re-location to within the school's catchment area (e.g. proof of sale or termination of lease for the previous principal place of residence in a different catchment).

The Principal may also request a properly sworn Statutory Declaration from the enrolling parent or legal guardian attesting that the student's principal place of residence is the place nominated on the enrolment application.

Applicants should note that a false statement/assertion about the student's principal place of residence may amount to an offence and may be reported to police. The school Principal may repeal a decision to enrol a student in such circumstances.

From time to time, vacancies may present in certain year levels and a small number of students may be enrolled from out of catchment addresses, but this is dependent on student numbers in the school and the principal's decision to fill these vacancies. Please note the School Enrolment Management Plan provides that any decision made by the principal in relation to the plan is final. There is no internal review of this decision. Information about complaints processes available to you in relation to the EMP can be located at the Department of Education Complaints Management Framework and Queensland Ombudsman.

Please contact the school at anytime for further information.
