Academic opportunities
We value high academic achievement, and aim to provide a range of opportunities for our academic students to enjoy.
Optiminds
We have participated in the annual Optiminds competition over the last few years. Our team won the Regional Final in 2017 and were successful as runners-up in 2018.
Lion’s peace prize
Each year we invite students to enter the Lion’s peace prize poster competition. We have had an enormous amount of success in this competition, winning not only the Rockhampton division, but the Regional division as well.
Leadership opportunities
We value our student leaders and aim to provide them with opportunities to grow their skills and show their leadership ability. When our students reach the end of Year 5 they are invited to apply for a range of positions. We have a number of elected student leadership positions including school captains and house captains. We also have merit based positions such as our Indigenous leaders. All of our student leaders take on a wide range of responsibility within the school. They coordinate fund-raising activities, arrange and supervise daily lending of sporting and play equipment, and assist with our weekly assemblies. School captains are able to attend a special leadership event each year, allowing them to meet students from other schools, and gain additional training and skills.
