We off a range of academic, cultural, sporting and after school activities.

Academic opportunities

We value high academic achievement, and aim to provide a range of opportunities for our academic students to enjoy.

Tournament of minds state finalists

We have participated in the annual Tournament of the minds competition in previous years and were named state finalists for two years in a row.

Literary festival

Each year a group of talented students are taken to Gladstone to meet with some of Australia’s most awarded children’s authors and illustrators. These authors and illustrators have included Colin Thompson and Christine Harris who have given our students great insight into the publishing industry and fantastic ideas to motivate them to write. It is always a fun day and very inspirational.

Lion’s peace prize

Each year we invite students to enter the Lion’s peace prize poster competition. We have had an enormous amount of success in this competition, winning not only the Rockhampton division, but the Regional division as well.

Leadership opportunities

We value our student leaders and aim to provide them with opportunities to grow their skills and show their leadership ability. At the end of each school year our Year 6 students attend a camp which focuses on leadership skills. When these students reach Year 7 they are invites to apply for a range of positions. We have a number of elected student leadership positions including school captains and house captains. We also have merit based positions such as our Indigenous leaders. All of our student leaders take on a wide range of responsibility within the school. They coordinate fund-raising activities, arrange and supervise daily lending of sporting and play equipment, and assist with our weekly assemblies. School captains are able to attend a special leadership event each year, allowing them to meet students from other schools, and gain additional training and skills.
