Our musical calendar has been full and it is not over yet. We started the year with our Annual Twilight concert. It was a resounding success! Students and teachers set a high level of entertainment for parents and friends on our new stage.

In term 2, our musical ensembles competed in the Rockhampton Eisteddfod. Under the direction of Mrs Janet Stevenson, the Signing Choir and the Berserker Bamboo Band all put in quality performances. Our Bamboo Band were chosen to perform at the Eisteddfod Gala concert to showcase their high standard of performance.

The Berserker Bamboo Band has been a frequent performer in the local community since 2001. We have acquired a reputation for our upbeat, lively music and colourful performances, as well as our willingness to participate. They have been invited to perform at a Mayor’s Morning Tea later this year.

Our Senior Choir will again join other choirs in the Rockhampton Region to participate in the Choral Festival at the Pilbeam Theatre.

The Instrumental program is directed by Mrs Robyn Everitt (strings) and Mr Peter McCabe (brass, woodwind, percussion). Each group participated in the Twilight Concert showing their skills to parents and friends. All the students are now looking forward to performing in the annual combined schools orchestra at the Pilbeam Theatre in August.

We have a wonderful group of musicians at Berserker Street State School who turn up for rehearsals and performances with big smiles on their faces. They are reliable and hardworking kids who are a credit to our school.
